Dr Stuart Cosgrove, presenter of cult BBC Scotland radio series Off the Ball, and Channel 4’s Director of Creative Diversity, congratulated over 200 graduates at Perth College UHI’s graduation ceremony on Friday (4 October).

Born and brought up in the Letham area of Perth overlooking the college, Stuart graduated in Drama and English at the University of Hull, and gained a PhD in Media.  He also has a doctorate in English and American Studies, and has studied at George Mason University, Harvard’s JFK School of

Government and Leadership and Wharton Business

The Perth College UHI graduates, together with friends and family enjoyed an address by Stuart before being presented with their degrees and diplomas.

Dr Stuart Cosgrove said: “Education is a lifelong passion and this is a homecoming for me; it's such an honour to go back to the local area where I grew up and I congratulate everyone on their success.”

Margaret Munckton, Perth College UHI Acting Principal and Chief Executive added: “We are proud that Stuart, who is such a local success story, honoured our students’ achievements and welcomed all graduates and their families and friends to our graduation celebration.  This day is very special, as it rewards students for their hard-work and determination during their studies.  Our students are at the heart of all we do and we recognise that as well as leaving with an academic qualification, their education will have also taken in new experiences, friends and helped develop skills and experience towards their future careers and ambitions.

“This ceremony marks the start of an exciting new stage for our graduands and I wish each and every one every success for the future.”

A number of graduates who won awards for exceptional achievement were honoured at the end of the ceremony when they were presented with special prizes for their efforts.
