Doing a Higher by Distance Learning is a big commitment. You must be able to spend between six to eight hours per week studying. You can come to college for course assessments and tutorials.
We currently offer courses in: Higher English, Higher History, Higher French, Intermediate 2 Mathematics.
Enrolment
Your enrolment must be complete by October to sit the examination in May or June the following year. Please note that if you wish to pay by Individual Leaning Account (ILA) you must have your ILA number by the start of October.
Course assessment
As well as the final examination in May or June, you will also have to complete some assessments. They must be supervised but we will help you find a suitable location and supervisor. You will only be put forward for the final examination once you have completed a set amount of course work by January. This is at our discretion.
Exams
Exams must be taken at an approved centre. If you are unable to travel to Perth for the examination we can help you find a centre more convenient to your home. Please let us know at enrolment if this applies to you.
Prelims and appeals.
You will be given the opportunity to sit a prelim examination around Easter time (exact date will be decided by your tutor). If you do not sit the prelim examination there is no possibility of an appeal. If you are entitled to appeal Perth College UHI will do this on your behalf, but at our discretion.
