About this course
The BA (Hons) Business and Management provides a high-quality, broad-based business and management qualification introducing you to all aspects of today’s
modern business, including marketing, human resources, business law, information technology and the domestic and global environments in which they operate. The HND Business represents the first and second year of this award. It is possible to progress to the third year of the degree with other relevant HNDs provided appropriate units are studied.
The course uses different modes of delivery including online and video conferencing, and you will join other students studying the course from across the Highlands and Islands.
The following qualifications provide direct entry to the third year of the degree programme: HND Business; HND Accounting; HND Administration and Information Management; HND Administration and Information Technology; HND Travel and Tourism and HND Hospitality Management. A small bridging element may be required depending on the subjects studied within each award.
Specialist themes are: Finance; Human Resource Management; Marketing; Enterprise and Information and Organisational Management.
You study
You will choose a specialist themed area of study appropriate to your personal and career interests. Please note: modules for themed areas will only run where the requisite minimum number of students have opted to take the module. Alternatively, you may study for a general business management degree which can be gained in Year 3.
The honours year takes place in Year 4. Part-time study is possible and may be partly available on an evening basis depending upon demand.

To gain entry you require an HND in a relevant subject (see above); for Year 4 an ordinary degree in a relevant subject.
We welcome applications from people who have relevant qualifications like HNC, HND or appropriate work experience.

Project work is a key element of the course and you will investigate real life situations allowing you to develop your skills for continuing personal development.
