About this course
This course will prepare you for a career in computing, particularly in the areas of systems engineering, software development and the Internet. It has been designed to produce skilled graduates with the knowledge and experience needed to find work in more responsible technical and professional posts. Learning will be through different modes of delivery including online and face-to-face.
You study
In year 3 you will study a variety of subjects which are geared towards the ever-changing IT and computing job market. The degree will encourage you to expand up-to-date knowledge and skills in areas such as mobile technologies development and intelligent systems.
You will also develop comprehensive techniques and skills in database and network development. Your final project could involve you working with real clients developing a wide variety of systems including intranet applications, e-commerce websites and occasionally network designs.
The course is aimed at producing a well-rounded graduate who has all the necessary knowledge and skills required for employment both locally and nationally.
Getting started
To join Year 3 directly you should have an: HND in Information Technology; Technical Support; Software Development or an equivalent qualification.
If you don’t meet our entry requirements, your previous experience and credentials may still qualify you for this course. Please arrange an appointment with a member of College staff to discuss your eligibility.

This course aims to prepare you for a professional career in the computing and IT industries.
Previous graduates have gone on to work as software and web developers; IT trainers; technical support team leaders; IT advisors and secondary school computing teachers and found employment in companies such as M3 Networks, Scotland TransServ, Scottish and Southern Energy, Perth & Kinross Council, Stagecoach and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Previous students have also progressed to post-graduate study including the MSc in Information Technology at St Andrews University.
