About this course
The HNC allows you to develop an understanding of both the theoretical and practical issues relating to Fitness, Health and Exercise. Following on from the NQ Sport and Fitness, NQ Outdoor Adventure and the Certificate in Physical Activity and Adventure Leadership course, this programme is equally suitable for those who already have relevant experience and/or an interest in fitness.
You study
This course covers a range of units including: plan, teach and evaluate a gym-based exercise session; exercise physiology and anatomy; exercise principles and programming; nutrition for fitness, health and exercise; health screening; first aid for sport; health and safety legislation; graded unit; plan, teach and evaluate a group exercise with music session; workplace experience; sports psychology; NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification).
Getting started
An NQ or 2 Highers, preferably English and a Science subject. If you do not meet these requirements we will look at your previous learning on the grounds of age, experience and successful interview.

Careers and Training
You can progress to an HND in Fitness, Health and Exercise or gain employment in a range of posts in leisure centres, gymnasiums and health clubs or a range of sports and fitness related degree courses.
12 credits, £86 per credit
