About the course
Our SQA Higher and Intermediate 2 courses can help you get the qualifications you need to get into College or University. A pass in Intermediate 2 Maths is required for entry to Primary teacher training.
Our Intermediate 2 Maths classes meet twice weekly on Monday and Thursday mornings. There is an alternative weekly class on Wednesday evenings; or you can study the course by distance learning.
Assessment is by external exam in May, subject to passing three internal unit assessments (NABs) spread throughout the year.
You study
The course consists of three units; twelve outcomes are studied altogether. Topics studied include rearranging formulas, factorising quadratics, the equation of a line, statistics, triangle trigonometry, surds, simultaneous equations and trig graphs.
To do well in this course, students should be comfortable with algebra shorthands, simple equations, negative numbers, coordinates, fractions and percentages. They should have experience with p, Pythagoras, sin, cos and tan.
Classes begin in late August or early September and it is important to join the class as soon as possible. We do not accept new students onto this course after our October holiday.
