About this course
PDA Renewable Energy Systems is an accredited professional development award at HNC/HND level (SCQF level 7 and 8).
It is made up of six credits from specialist renewable energy units and is tailored to suit industry and community. The cost is £86 per credit for the full award.
You study
You will get an understanding of the issues relating to energy production and use, at present and in the future. You will also learn about the science and engineering behind energy extraction systems used in renewable energy, allowing you to solve energy problems. You can specialise in two areas of renewable energy systems.
The award will be delivered online using the blackboard system to post lectures.
Course content
Overview of energy use; technology; Hydrogen; wind power; biomass; geothermal energy; hydroelectricity; microgeneration systems; solar; wave and tidal energy.

Entry Requirements
Access is based on broad criteria, ensuring you have the potential and ability to complete the award successfully. You should have general knowledge and understanding of engineering systems and mechanical, electrical and electronic principles and technologies.
You should also have any of the following: HNC or HND Engineering Systems; HNC or HND Mechatronics; an appropriate multi-disciplinary degree or an equivalent award.
Also possible are: assessment on demand; credit transfer; accreditation of prior learning or relevant work experience
