Jamie works in a supervisory role in offshore drilling in the North Sea, so was looking for a qualification to further his career. After attending Perth College UHI previously, he applied for the full time course, which he managed to fit in with working off-shore!
Jamie explained his drive to come back to College for industry-recognised qualifications: “I came here to try and further myself, get the certificate, get the education so that I’ll have more weight to punch with. I’ll be able to choose which avenue I want to go down in the engineering world, which is definitely what I want to do. And hopefully fingers crossed I’ve got the ability and the confidence through this course to do it.
“The reason I came to Perth College UHI was the tutors. I’d remember from last time how great they were and I think that swung it for me. Perth College UHI is a really nice place to be; its friendly and the facilities are really good, particularly the workshop, and the help’s there if you need it.”
