Helen Roger is the Perth College UHI Advanced Practioner in Art and Design and Graphics.

A graduate of Dundee University and holding a Masters Degree in Design from Duncan of Jordanstone, Helen began her career in Perth College UHI as Graphic Designer within the Marketing Unit and is now an Advanced Practitioner, on a cross-college basis.

She is involved in designing and delivering art, design and music promotions units, while continuing to design, involving students in live work as part of their experience within a professional studio environment.

Helen believes that no designer makes anything more complicated than it needs to be; design is making sense and communicating in original and innovative ways.

Alan Scott: Creative Arts Lecturer

He trained as an illustrator and cartoonist many, many years ago and has since been employed as a graphic designer producing diverse products in areas such as audio visual communications, interactive multimedia, exhibitions, and every sort of printed matter.

He also became responsible for developing the digital publishing side of things for Scottish Natural Heritage and redeveloping the Scottish Natural Heritage national website including commissioning and creating micro sites.

He was involved in training countryside practitioners in communication skills and in developing and delivering the national training programme for countryside rangers.

Alan has a particular interest in technology and how it can be used to effectively deliver information and learning.

He moved into the formal education sector to work in Perth College UHI in 2005.

Alex Kershaw: Art and Design Part-time Lecturer

Alex is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where she specialised in Illustration and Printmaking.

After graduating, her work was spotted at the New Designers Exhibition in London, and she was offered work for a textile company, creating surface pattern designs which were sold in Japan.

Since 1997, she has been working as a part-time lecturer at Perth College UHI, where she has taught various areas of art and design to both NQ and HE level students, as well as teaching leisure classes and various workshops to schools groups.

Alex also enjoys working on live mural projects with her students, and has recently undertaken interior design consultancy work for NHS Tayside for the new maternity unit at Perth Royal Infirmary.

She is passionate about all areas of art and design, and “creating“ at every opportunity.

Senj Yetkin: Creative Arts Part-time Lecturer

Once a student at Perth College UHI, Senj completed the NQ Visual Arts course before progressing on to HND Graphic Design. From there he went on to a degree course at Abertay University, Dundee and has returned to teach at Perth College UHI.

Senj is part of a team which has created a lively and warm atmosphere at Perth College UHI.
